Biographical Sketch:

Douglas J. Gotham has been the Associate Director of the State Utility Forecasting Group at Purdue University since November 1998. He has worked for the group in various capacities since arriving at Purdue University in 1992, initially as a graduate research assistant before becoming a full-time research analyst in 1994. After a six-year stint in the United States Navy as a nuclear operator, he attended Michigan Technological University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1992. He received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1993 and did his Doctor of Philosophy in 1996, working under Dr. Gerald T. Heydt. Dr. Gotham's doctoral research involved the modeling of FACTS devices in power systems analyses and the application of FACTS devices for controlling power flows. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has served as a paper reviewer for IEEE.
